
Mexico City, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s homegrown Covid-19 vaccines are among the safest in the world, including the pediatric Abdala vaccine, Mexican Undersecretary of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell said on Tuesday.
In response to a question from a reporter at the morning presidential press briefing at the National Palace, the official explained that Cuba is scientifically renowned for the quality of its medicines and vaccines.
He noted that Cuba has the best capacity to develop those medicines for its platforms for this and other vaccines, a design implemented for Abdala.
Lopez-Gatell recalled that Cuba is the first country in the world that eliminated infectious diseases with its own medicines and vaccines, some polyvalent, including polio and mother-to-child HIV contagion.
He added that Cuba is the nation with the highest scientific and technological capacity in the region, that is why we trust the pediatric Abdala vaccine, with which Cuban children from 2 years of age and older have been immunized.
He added that Cuba has vaccinated its entire population with this vaccine and Soberana; that is why, Mexico is working with Cuba in coordination with health regulation organizations and the possible technological transfers and the measurement of the levels of effectiveness, including vaccines.
This question was asked because, minutes before, the undersecretary, the main spokesman for Mexico’s Secretariat of Health, had announced at the morning press briefing of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador that on Thursday, Mexico will begin the registration for the vaccination of children between 5 and 11 years of age, starting with the Pfizer vaccine.
