Cuba´s National Environment Award to Be Granted TodayHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 19 (acn) The National Environment Award, which is wished for by entities, institutions, mass organizations and personalities, will be presented today in a ceremony at the National Archives of the Republic of Cuba, in Old Havana.

A large group of productive and service enterprises expect to win the prize, including Suchel Proquimias SA (Havana) and Architecture and Engineering Projects (Matanzas), specialists from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA by its Spanish acronym), told ACN.

Cultural, educational, recreational or research institutions, and working groups such as Hermanos Gómez Hotel and Tourism School (Camagüey) and CUBANIQUEL Community Cultural Center of Environmental Education (Holguín) also opt for the award.

According to the same source the list also includes journalist Mara Roque and Dr. Gisela Dominguez Alonso, president of the Environment Agency, and Armando Choy Rodríguez, president of Havana Bay State Working Group.

The first to receive the National Environment Award were, in 2001, the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, Rosario Mountain Range Biosphere Reserve, in Pinar del Río, and the Company ENERGAS, S.A. from Matanzas.
