Cuba’s Advise Asked in Chile for a New Medical School

Santiago, Chile, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) The University of Atacama, in northern Chile, has held talks with Cuban ambassador here, Adolfo Curbelo, to discuss the island”s possible collaboration in the opening of a medical school.

The rector of the high school, Sergio Arias, along with legislator, Lautaro Carmona, talked with the diplomat about the interest of having Cuban advisers and teachers for the opening of the medical school in 2018.

According to sources close to the meetings, the initiative emerged from Carmona, a parliamentarian for Atacama, and has absolute support by authorities of the University of the region of the most arid desert in the world. Curbelo, Arias and Carmona agreed that this is a great and necessary idea, by which all parties will work to make a medical school at the University of Atacama in 2018.
