Havana, Cuba, Jun 27.- Cuba will be represented today by four athletes in Tomblaine, French city that hosts the athletics event corresponding to the summer tour.Cuban athletes attending this meeting are the discus thrower Yaime Perez, Yordan O’Farrill, in 110 meter hurdles, triple jumper Ernesto Reve and Rose Mary Almanza (800 meters).
This competition serves as training for the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held next November in Veracruz, Mexico.
In addition, Revé, Perez, javelin thrower Guillermo Martinez and Omar Cisneros (400 meters hurdles) will also be present at the Diamond League’s next stop, to be held in Paris.
The also Cuban Yarisley Silva leads with seven points the pole vault event of that competition.
Silva, London 2012 Olympic silver medalist and world indoors monarch in Sopot, Poland, last March, accumulates three medals, one of each color.
So far, Cubans have reached one scepter, three silver and five bronze medals in this prestigious contest, which is attended by some of the best track and field exponents in the world.
The winners of each specialty in that tournament get four points in the race for the diamond, while the occupants of the second and third spots earn two one units, respectively. (acn).
