Cubans living in Miami call for a rally in celebration of the restoration of diplomatic relations

A group of organizations of Cubans living in Miami call for a rally in celebration of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba and the release of the last three of the Cuban Five.

These organizations are [in alphabetical order]: Marti Alliance, Antonio Maceo Brigade, Bridges Cuba, Cuban Americans for Engagement (Cafe), Foundation for the Normalization of Relations between the US and Cuba (FORNORM), Generation Cambio Cubano, La Tarde se mueve, Cuban Defense League American, Progreso Weekly Radio Miami and Jewish Solidarity.

Present at the event will be the distinguished American professor and diplomat Wayne Smith, who was between 1979 and 1982 Head of Mission of the US Interests Section in Cuba US will be recognized, to obtain the full normalization of relations between the two countries.

Guest of honor will also be Gloria La Riva, coordinator of the US National Committee to Free the Cuban Five. Since the summer of 2001, beginning of the national and global campaign for the release of the Five, Gloria managed to articulate the commendable and essential work done by this committee for over 13 long years.
