Cubans in US condemn cancellation of flights to the Caribbean island

HAVANA, Oct 27 (ACN) The Foundation for the Normalization of Relations between the United States and Cuba (Fornorm), made up by Cubans residing in America, condemned the flight ban to the island announced by Washington last October 25.

“It is completely hypocritical that US, the country that pretends to be a “beacon of democracy” and the “leader of the free world” continues to participate in a failed, cruel and illegal policy of punishing the Cuban people, which has no effect on their system of government,” Fornorm’s statement stresses.

According to the declaration signed by the Executive Committee of this organization, the White House’s decision to block American airlines from entering nine Cuban airports as of next December 10 is aimed at “making life even more difficult for Cubans on the island and abroad.

They also denounced the moves undertaken within the U.S. government, at the proposal of Republican Senator Marco Rubio and Mauricio Claver-Carone, director of Western Hemisphere Affairs in the National Security Council, to tighten the economic, commercial and financial blockade that Washington has imposed on Havana for almost six decades.

This theory, described as “deeply immoral,” has been a “great failure,” and however, it persists as an “incurable disease,” now reaffirmed thanks to the obsession of U.S. President Donald Trump to undo everything to do with his predecessor, Barack Obama, including the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the USA and Cuba, the statement says.

Washington’s coercive policies against Havana have been condemned year after year by almost every member of the United Nations and people of good will throughout the world, it concludes the note.
