Cuban residents in Europe support meeting in Greece

Athens, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuban residents in Greece supported on Monday that a meeting of compatriots living in Europe will be held on October 24 to support the island in the fight against the blockade and other aggressions.

Damayantis Pacheco told Prensa Latina her expectations for the virtual forum, which will be launched on October 10 with a political-cultural evening, on occasion of the national date that marked the beginning of the independence struggle in Cuba in 1868, and the Culture Day, on October 20.

This event is very important, as of the meeting will not be held physically to exchange ideas due to the Covid-19 situation, Pacheco said on behalf of the compatriots who in Greece support the country where they were born.

According to Pacheco, the virtual meeting will take place in a scenario marked by attacks on social media by those she described as ‘Cuba’s non-defenders and aggressors.’

Pacheco also highlighted the Cuban residents’ support in Greece, Europe and the world to grant the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize to the ‘Henry Reeve’ medical brigades, a health professional group from the Caribbean island scattered globally to face Covid-19, another of the issues to be addressed at the October 24 meeting.
