Cuban Residents in Costa Rica Reject US Blockade

San Jose, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban residents in Costa Rica on Tuesday rejected the application of Title III of Helms-Burton Act and other measures by the US government to intensify the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

‘Our principles are unchangeable and invariable. We strongly reject the new measures announced by the government of (US President Donald) Trump against our country, our people and against our national sovereignty,’ Juan Mesa, president of the Antonio Maceo Cultural Association of Cuban Residents in Costa Rica (ACCRCR), told Prensa Latina.

All these new US actions seek to strengthen the Washington-imposed economic, commercial and financial blockade against Havana almost 60 years ago, and the nations of the world, for 26 consecutive years and with increasing votes at the UN General Assembly, have called for an end, Mesa stated.

In addition to violating international laws and conventions, these measures ‘harm Cuban families, emigration and US citizens, while attacking the sovereignty of all states,’ the ACCRCR president said.
