Cuban president supports US youths detained on their return home

Havana, May 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today offered his support to the members of the delegation of young people who visited our country and were taken in detention for several hours on their return to the United States.

“Courage, boys, we are with you. Thank you for your courage, for supporting Cuba and for facing in the very bowels of the monster, the hatred of those who cannot stand that the Cuban Revolution has the support of the most progressive young people”, the president wrote on Twitter.

Despite having traveled legally, they were harassed and held in secondary questioning by the Customs and Border Patrol upon their arrival at Miami and New York airports, as denounced by The People’s Forum organization.

Their phones were also searched and seized by mistake, which they described as “an outrageous behavior” seeking to “intimidate us and criminalize our rights to travel and exchange”, the text underlined.

The delegation of more than 150 young people is considered one of the largest to travel to the Caribbean country for decades, since their arrival on April 24, they were able to understand the consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
