Cuban President pays tribute to the Children Heroes of Chapultepec

Havana, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel paid tribute today to the Children Heroes of Chapultepec, on the date that commemorates their heroic defense in Mexico.

I salute #Mexico on the day of homage to the Children Heroes of #Chapultepec, symbols of the courage and resistance of its people in the face of foreign intervention. #CubaYMexico, the Cuban leader wrote on his Twitter account.

On September 13, 1847, a group of young Mexican cadets confronted the interventionist troops of the United States and defended with their lives the Castle of Chapultepec, in the Mexican capital.

It is a patriotic date in that country, which pays tribute to them in a monumental obelisk attached to Chapultepec Castle, next to Avenida de Reforma in Mexico City.
