Cuban President meets with UAE business people

Dubai, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel met on Thursday with business people from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and reviewed various business opportunities in Cuba to develop joint projects.

On his X account, the head of State noted that they analyzed issues related to sectors of common interest and to make bilateral economic, commercial, financial and cooperation ties more dynamic.

A new stage is opening in mutual relations, Díaz-Canel said at the meeting with business people from the such sectors as food production, tourism, renewable energy sources and the pharmaceutical industry.

After the meeting, Dubai’s Casa del Habano, the largest such establishment in the Middle East, was reopened, the Presidency of the Republic reported on X.

The chairman of Baquer Mohebi Enterprises and distributor of Habanos in the UAE, Mohammed Mohebi, explained that his country is the largest market for Cuban cigars in this region of the world.

The important Emirati businessman outlined the history and roots of cigars in his nation.

He spoke about the mystique of Cuba, of his Revolution, and particularly appreciated Cuba’s help at the hard times of the Covid-19 pandemic, when it sent doctors here.

Díaz-Canel arrived on an official visit to the UAS on Tuesday and to attend the COP28 Climate Change Conference, as part of the tour that will also take him to Qatar and Iran.

On Wednesday, the Cuban president held official talks with His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and emir of Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, both parties confirmed the good state of bilateral relations and the willingness to continue strengthening political dialogue between the two countries.
