Beijing, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of Cuba in China highlighted that the island will be able to return to normal and resume socioeconomic life without neglecting control over Covid-19.
Lissete Hermida, scientific representative of the BioCubaFarma group, explained that Cuba structured its protocols from the beginning of the pandemic and based it on the most significant experiences obtained by China and other countries of the world.
The official referred to the rapid obtaining of five vaccines, the successful application of the three approved for emergency use and the complete immunization of 70 percent of the population, including children.
In addition, Hermida mentioned the approval of two joint Cuba-China projects to study the cardiopulmonary complications derived from Covid-19 and the development of the Pancorona vaccine candidate, in order to combat infections with different strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira stressed on his part that Cuba battled against the health crisis amid a resurgence of the blockade, as it further complicated the situation, with 60 measures aimed at causing the collapse of the country and the fall of the Revolution.
“We are celebrating the return of that normality and we have sufficient reasons to celebrate the fact that Cubans have had to face two pandemics (…) the Covid-19 and also the intensified blockade, that economic war that once the more it makes things more difficult for us,” he remarked.
