Havana, Oct 1.- Cuban musicians of Ensamble Solistas de La Habana, nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards, will perform next Friday at the Ignacio Cervantes hall in this capital city, said the National Center of Concert Music.
Ensamble Solistas de La Habana, led by Cuban musician Ivan Valiente, will perform with Spanish director Gregorio Gutierrez, who recently directed the Symphony orchestra of Camagüey during a tribute to instrumentalist Efrain Amador.
In the concert, Ensamble Solistas de La Habana will play “Serenade for Strings”, by Russian Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and “La oracion del torero”, by Spanish Joaquin Turina, among other works.
Ensamble Solistas de La Habana is nominated for the Latin Grammy as Best Classical Album for Yalil Guerra’s “Works for string orchestra”.
The album, recorded during a concert at the National Library of Cuba in October 2014, includes “El Retrato de la Paloma”, written by Guerra, which is also nominated as Best Classical Contemporary Composition.
Founded in 2003, Ensamble Solistas de La Habana is one of the most prestigious chamber music groups of Cuba and has been conducted by directors Yoshikazu Fukumura (Japan), Francesco Belli (Italy), Natalie Marin (France) and Kenneth Nafziger (United States).(Prensa Latina)
