Cuban FM Warns US Is Looking for Pretexts for Attacking Venezuela

Havana, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, warned Wednesday that sending humanitarian aid to Venezuela is an additional pretext for militarily invading that nation.

Rodriguez posted in Twitter: ‘The United States government is the real mastermind of the coup in Venezuela. The imposition of ‘humanitarian aid’ as a pretext for military aggression persists. History will severely condemn the complicity of others.

Let’s all mobilize to stop imperialist intervention in Latin America, the head of Cuban Diplomacy recently urged.

During the speech celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, on January 1, the first Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Raul Castro, reaffirmed that no threat will stop us from being in solidarity with Venezuela.

He warned that Venezuela’s repetitive declaration as a threat to the US national security, the calls for a military coup against its government, the military exercises near its borders, could lead to unpredictable consequences, he said.

Venezuela was the first country President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited after taking over the executive office, and his peer Nicolas Maduro was the first dignitary to travel to Cuba after April 19, when the Cuban President sworn in as President.
