Luanda, Oct 25 (Prensa Latina) The creative effort of the Cuban people is increasingly attacked by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by a hostile neighbor, the United States of America, Ambassador Esther Armenteros denounced in Luanda.
In recent months, the Washington offensive increased significantly, because they have never forgiven our nation, ‘for having built a sovereign and independent society in what they considered their backyard,’ the diplomat said.
The statement took place on Thursday evening during the central act on occasion of Cuban Culture Day, to which representatives of the diplomatic staff, senior officials of this African country, former Angolan students in the island, Cubans resident in Luanda and media journalists participated.
Faced with the harassment on the rise, Armenteros recalled her nation’s firm position, recently expressed by Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel: ‘Nobody is going to make our lives bitter, we are not going to lose sleep.’ We will remain being a cheerful and hardworking people and will continue to consolidate our victories, she added.
This meeting in Luanda ‘demonstrates the certainty of our President’s words, that is why we are here today to enjoy the best of the Cuban culture with a very dear and brotherly people, united to Cuba by historical and cultural ties,’ Armenteros said.
The Cuban Culture Day (on October 20) marks the date in which the National Anthem, composed by famous patriot Perucho Figueredo, was sung for the first time in Bayamo city, she recalled.
