Havana, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) The Spanish cities of Perelada, Santander and Almansa will host this month performances by the Cuban company Acosta Danza, informed Thursday a statement from the institution.
The company, directed by ballerina Carlos Acosta, will perform in different artistic events, considered the most important of the Spanish summer, such as the 33rd edition of the Castell Peralada Festival, the 50th International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance in Murcia and the Festivals Palace in Santander.
A selection of successful works from the company’s repertoire make up the program of performances which includes the choreographies of Spaniard Goyo Montero entitled ‘Imponderable’ and ‘Llamada,’ as well as the piece ‘Mermaid’ by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, performed as a duet by Acosta and Marta Ortega.
‘Twelve,’ by Spanish choreographer Jorge Crecis, also features in the selection, which requires the highest physical and mental disposition of dancers, with sports and mathematical elements, and ‘Two,’ by Russell Maliphant, will also be danced by the company’s director.
The shows will begin this August 15 in Perelada and will reach the rest of the stages on August 18 and 22, to show the mastery that characterizes Acosta Danza, true representatives of Cuban culture in correspondence with the most contemporary notions of dance in the world.
The group, since its debut, has been defined as a space for renewal, research and experimentation for Cuban artists, and at the same time has opened its doors to foreign creators such as choreographers, musicians, designers, plastic artists and audiovisual producers.
