Cuba Urged USA to not Take Hasty Measures

Washington, Sep 28.- Cuba communicated the United States that it would be regrettable to take hasty decisions on the incidents reported by U.S. diplomats in Havana, a subject that is still under investigation today.

At the meeting held yesterday in Washington DC, between the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez with the U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, the island’s foreign minister called not to politicize the matter, assured him that the investigation to clear it up continues and that Cuba is eager to conclude it.

The Cuban officer stated that it would be unfortunate to politicize a matter of this nature and to make hasty decisions without evidence and conclusive research results, said a note released by the Cuban Embassy in Havana.

During the meeting, proposed by the Caribbean nation to address this issue, the Cuban minister reiterated to Tillerson the seriousness, speed and professionalism with which the authorities of his nation have taken up this issue.

He also reaffirmed that at the suggestion of the highest level of the Cuban government it is initiated a priority search from the very moment the facts were reported, and additional measures were taken to protect U.S. diplomats and their families.

‘This has been recognized by the representatives of the specialized agencies of the United States that have traveled to Cuba since June, whose visits have been positively valued by Cuban counterparts,’ the report said.

The island authorities established an interagency committee of experts to analyze the facts; extended and strengthened security and safety measures for headquarters, staff and diplomatic residences. (Prensa Latina)
