Havana, Apr 3 (Prensa Latina) The 10th International Meeting of Information and Communication Researchers and Scholars ICOM 2019 was launched Wednesday in Havana, a forum scheduled for December to host experts from Latin America and Europe.
The event, to be held from December 2 to 6 at the Havana Convention Center, will focus on infocommunication, citizenship and social change, as well as innovation for new development.
In a press conference, the President of the Organizing Committee, Raul Garces, said that the biennial meeting will address various aspects of the role of information and communication in contributing to development, particularly in Cuba.
We have so far presentations from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Spain, among other countries, said the Dean of the Faculty of Communication at the University of Havana.
According to Garces, the participation in the forum has been confirmed by renowned academics and specialists in information management, such as Manuel Castells (Spain), Annemaree Lloyd (United Kingdom), Sandra Masonni (Argentina), Luciana Duranti (Canada), Cicilia Krohling (Brazil) and Karina Herrera (Bolivia).
He also announced the event will include lectures and panels.
Regarding the main topics, ICOM 2019 will encourage debate on the academic field of information and communication for development, information management and the challenges of technological convergence.
