Havana, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) May 1 will be a day of international celebration in Cuba, the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, said on Thursday.

At a meeting with the press, the executive said that on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Cuba will welcome solidarity activists from many countries.

He pointed out that the 15th International May 1 Brigade, which was absent due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, will be here on that date.

Gonzalez explained that 100 members from ten countries, mostly linked to the support for the Cuban Revolution, are registered to participate in the May Day parade.

The ICAP president explained that there are several organizations from Cuba that are involved in the celebration and are welcoming participants and foreign delegations.

In that role he mentioned the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC), the Young Communist League (UJC) and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), among others.

Among the activists from the United States, including a group of some 170 members invited by the Martin Luther King Center, are Cuban residents abroad, he noted.

One of the main activities for visitors will be their participation in the traditional popular parade with which Cubans celebrate the anniversary.

Many will participate in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba that will take place at Havana’s Convention Palace from April 30 and May 2.

Gonzalez also ratified the holding of the 7th International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases on May 4 and 5.
