According to the Cuban foreign minister, and other commentators, the U.S. is trying all means at its disposal to topple Venezuelan President Maduro.

Feb 11 (teleSUR) Foreign Affairs Minister of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez came out on Twitter to admonish the United States for its cynical use of a resolution in the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council pushing for “humanitarian aid” in Venezuela in order to get access to the country and continue its policy of “anty means necessary” intervention in the country.

Security Council representatives met behind closed doors Friday afternoon to discuss the draft of a resolution by the United States on Venezuela. According to Reuters, the resolution would also give “absolute support to (Venezuela’s) National Assembly as the only democratically elected institution.”

The Cuban Foreign Minister made a series of tweets that condemned the U.S. resolutions dubbing them as based on an “imperialist coup d’tat.

Resolución #EEUU en CS ONU apoya golpe imperialista basado en supuestos: “situación humanitaria”, “intentos de bloquear la ayuda humanitaria”, “millones de migrantes y refugiados”, “uso excesivo de la fuerza contra manifestantes pacíficos” e “insta adoptar las medidas necesarias”1647:49 AM – Feb 11, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy195 people are talking about this

The U.S. resolution in the Security Council of the UN supports the imperialist coup based on the supposed ‘humanitarian situation,’ ‘attempts at blocking aid,’ ‘millions of migrants and refugees’, ‘excessive use of force against peacful demonstrations’, and ‘instance to take all necessary measures.’

He also made reference to the fact that the United States is trying to invoke its Monroe Doctrine which gives itself permission to become the policemen to the Western Hemisphere, intervening in sovereign governments from South America to Central America and the Caribbean:

El imperialismo estadounidense decreta la vigencia de la Doctrina Monroe y de otras, viejas y nuevas que, atacan la igualdad soberana de los Estados y la soberanía de los pueblos, en especial sobre los recursos, y reprimen en formas diversas y novedosas la libre determinación.4027:07 AM – Feb 11, 2019451 people are talking about thisTwitter Ads info and privacy

United States imperialism requires adherence to the Monroe Doctrine and others, old and new, which are an assault on the sovereign equality of states and the sovereighty of peoples, especially when it comes to resources, and which represses self-determination in various and novel ways.

In addition Rodriguez makes note of the fact that regardless of the outcome of the vote, the United States will use the result to its favor, declaring on the one hand, if the vote fails, they tried; and on the other hand, if the vote passes, that it’s not enough, thereby opening the doors to ‘humanitarian aid, and later war.

If it doesn’t get approved, they can say they tried. If it does get approved, they’ll say there was a violation. Later comes the “humanitarian corridor under international protection”, the “need to protect”and the use “of all necessary meaures.” That’s how imperialist wars start.

According to the Cuban foreign minister, and other commentators, the U.S. is trying all means at its disposal to topple Venezuelan President Maduro and install a leader who is more friendly to their aims, e.g. granting them access to Venezuela’s rich oil, mineral, and gold deposits.
