Cuba Reaffirms Medical Collaboration with Venezuela

Havana, Apr 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban health collaborators reaffirmed their commitment to the Venezuelan people on celebrating this Tuesday the 16th anniversary of the Barrio Adentro program in that nation.

The Cuban Minister of Public Health, Jose Angel Portal, expressed this in Twitter. He assured the continuity of the assistance to the South American country, with the aim of guaranteeing full access to health services for millions of people.

More than 2,000 new Cuban doctors joined this social program last January to continue providing comprehensive and quality services to the Venezuelan people.

The Barrio Adentro, designed by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, expanded its reach in 2018 with more than 127 million medical consultations throughout the South American country.

The Venezuelan health sector is one of the areas most affected by the imposition of the economic war by Washington and its allies.

In that sense, Cuban medical collaboration demonstrates the importance of bilateral cooperation, based on a shared awareness of the need to foster unity and social justice in Latin America and the Caribbean.
