Cuba Readies for Popular Cultural Fair

Havana, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) The 15th edition of the cultural fair Arte en la Rampa (Arts at La Rampa) returns to the grounds of the cultural center Pabellón Cuba, at this capital from June 27 to August 31 with a varied musical program to complement the trade fair. In this occasion the fair, one of the most eagerly awaited each summer, includes the presentation of creators from the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, promoter of the event, as well as representations from other national institutions, distributed in 90 stands.

Jorge Alfonso, president of the organizing committee of the fair, told reporters that they are giving the final touches to the wide range of activities including concerts of outstanding musicians and singers as Ivette Cepeda, David Alvarez and Juego de Manos, Qva Libre, Arnaldo and his Talisman, Luna Manzanares, Alejandro Falcon, David Blanco and Tony Avila, among others.

There are also activities for children, the regular meetings with artists and intellectuals, presentation of books, magazines, albums and audiovisual works, selling of handicrafts, textiles and footwear, as well as the inauguration of photo exhibitions, one of them dedicated to the late musician Juan Formell, leader of the group Los Van Van.

Under the title: Formell mania, the exhibition is composed of 25 giant posters, signed by Iván Soca author of the pictures, displaying the insignia orchestra of Cuban popular music in different forms. The posters will be sold on August 2.

The fair includes new products of Arte en casa (Art at Home).

Alfonso said that Art at La Rampa has became over time one of the largest gathering events, a plural space where the Cuban family enjoys and develops the intellect, simultaneously.
