Havana, 15 Apr (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) begins today the celebration of the 180th anniversary of the Alicia Alonso Great Theater of Havana, with a program of local and foreign choreographies.
Some of the choreographies were premiered at the latest International Ballet Festival of Havana in late 2016, including Oscurio by the Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle López Ochoa; Winter, by Cuba’s Ely Regina Hernández; and Cygne, by Argentina’s Daniel Proietto.
Due to the impression they made during the festival and the fabulous reception by the audience, these three choreographies were included in the Book of Honor of the Alicia Alonso Great Theater of Havana.
The program also includes A Concert in Black and White, by Jose Pares, from Puerto Rico, who worked for many years as a dancer and choreographer at the National Ballet of Cuba
The main protagonists of the performances will be the world-renowned dancers Viengsay Valdés, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernández, Sadaise Arencibia, Yinet Moncho, Ariel Hernández, Patricio Revé and Raúl Abreu, among others.
The show will be repeated tomorrow, April 16, at the theater’s García Lorca Hall.
Until April 15, 2018, several events, including exhibitions by artists from various countries and a series of lectures on the history of the theater, will commemorate the foundation of Cuba’s oldest active theater.
