Cuba Maintains Tourism Programs, Minister Says

Havana, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero, has said today that preparations for FITCuba 2018, the main international tourist fair organized in this country, are continuing.

These statements were published today by Vanguardia newspaper, in central Villa Clara province, on occasion of the minister’s speech at the 1st International Scientific Convention in the ‘Marta Abreu ‘ Central University of that territory.

Marrero talked about the International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2018, to be held in Cayo Santa Maria, in central Cuba, an event that will take place despite the recent hurricane damages, especially in that part of the island.

The minister stated that despite the damages caused by Hurricane Irma, all the prospects for the holding of FITCuba are maintained.

He also confirmed that the country has all conditions to assume the high season of international tourism (November-April), as all tourist destinations will be ready for November 1.

He acknowledged that they managed to recover the facilities with an impressive speed.

He also said that about 3,800,000 tourists arrived in the island this year, up to October 21, and the country expects to surpass four million foreign visitors by late December.
