Cuba Introduces Technologies to Measure Water Flow in Watersheds

Havana, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) introduced new technologies in the country for measuring water in watersheds, and prepare personnel related to this labor, according to sources from the sector. The workers from the testing area of hydraulic equipment and training in early warning systems, in the province of Matanzas, some 180 kilometers east of Havana, are playing an important role in this task. Their objetive is to multiply knowledge to the country.

Luis Alonso, main expert in the Business Group Direction of Using Water Resources, stated that the main purpose is the rational, efficient use, and with quality of equipment.

The center provides equipment for measuring groundwater and surface water, total flow and stations, in which renewable energy sources are used to maintain vitality in extreme conditions, he said.

That highly accurate equipment, Alonso added, enables the flow volume regulation to use each moment, as for example, rice irrigation.
