Cuba Implements Program to Increase Coffee Production

Guantanamo, Cuba May 17 (Prensa Latina) Coffee production in Cuba is reportedly undergoing progressive growth thanks to the strategies implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI).

The Coffee Development Program has allowed a slight increase in yields in this eastern Cuban province, the second largest coffee producer in the country, Elexis Legrá, director of Coffee, Cacao and Coconut of MINAGRI Agroforestry Business Group, told the press.

Cuba expects to reach around 20 thousand tons of this exportable product by 2020, 167 thousand hectares were planted in pursuit of that goal, a figure that almost triples the area that the plantations occupy today.
