Cuba Hosts Global Renewable Energy Forum

Havana, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Experts from some 20 countries are participating here from today to June 2nd at the Ninth International Conference on Renewable Energy, Energy Saving and Energy Education, CIER 2017, in which the main progress in the field will be present.

Important speakers, ministers of energy and mines and agriculture, presidential advisor to Nicaragua Rappaccioli Baltodano, and Turkish ambassador to Cuba Ayse Berris, will give keynote speeches during the first day of the event.

The program includes the holding of international workshops related to hydrogen as alternative fuel, biofuels, biomass, efficiency, and solar and wind energy.

In the latter, more than 10 papers will be presented today and a roundtable discussion will be held, including a speech by Dr. Conrado Moreno, of the Center for Studies of Renewable Energy Technologies (CETER), about the current state and perspectives of wind energy and its technology.

The event is organized by CETER and sponsored by the Electricity Engineering and Projects Company, the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education, the CubaSolar group, the World Wind Energy Association, the Global Event Parnets, Havana Club International, and others entities.

Its objective is to create synergies in the presentation of the progress in energy saving from the technological, scientific and business viewpoint, Joel Morales, president of the organizing committee, told Prensa Latina.

Ecuador, Qatar, Turkey, Nicaragua, Mexico, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Spain, Chile, France, Colombia and Argentina, are among the nations to attend the forum.
