Havana, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on Wednesday stressed the relevance for the members of the G77+China of the “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.”
Precisely this will be the main theme of the G77+China Summit, to take place on September 15-16 at Havana’s International Conference Center, with participation of dozens of heads of State and Government from the member nations.
The Summit’s central theme is broadly comprehensive to promote a high-level, substantial debate, with forceful, in-depth statements on the most pressing political and economic issues, amid the systemic international crisis we are going through, for developing nations and on which our survival depends to a great extent, Rodriguez Parrilla pointed out.
With this news conference by the Cuban Foreign Minister, the Press Room of the G77+China Summit was inaugurated.
Regarding the central theme of the Summit, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel recently underscored the paradox that these three essential pillars of progress were at the forefront of the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, while their benefits were unattainable for those most in need.
In order to change that situation, building a fairer relationship and a truly democratic and inclusive order that privileges international solidarity and cooperation is to what we, the members of the G77+China group, are committed, he stressed.
Since assuming the pro tempore presidency of the G77+China in January 2023, Cuba has developed an intense agenda to put into practice the vision defended by the Group, which represents 80 percent of the world population and more than two thirds of the United Nations membership.
