United Nations, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced on Monday that the US authorities take pressure and blackmail actions with a view to the coming vote on the resolution calling for the end of the US blockade.
In this way, they want to erode the pattern of votes supporting Cuba’s project at the United Nations General Assembly to demand the end of that economic, commercial and financial siege, he told the UN accredited press.
‘Far from responding to the repeated call of the overwhelming majority of the international community to end that policy, the United States makes a new maneuver to try to justify its continuity.’
According to the Cuban Foreign Minister, the pressures have been focused specially on Latin American countries.
The Foreign Minister also rejected the crude way in which Donald Trump’s government executes several forms of influence and blackmail to fulfill its foreign policy objectives.
After the marked failure of their attempts in 2018 to amend the draft resolution against the blockade of Cuba, the objective of the United States authorities this year is aimed at reducing the number of votes in favor of the initiative.
This week, the UN General Assembly will vote on the draft resolution calling for the end of the US blockade against Cuba, which has been supported by the vast majority of the international community for 27 years.
