Cuba Committed to Agenda 2030 of the UN’s Sustainable Development

Havana, Cuba, Jun 1 (acn) Cuba endorsed on Thursday at the United Nations its commitment with the implementation of Agenda 2030 of Sustainable Development and its 17 objectives directed at promoting the inclusive human progress and harmony with nature, reported Prensa Latina News Agency.

“We are working hard in its coordination with the basis of our National Economic and Social Development Plan starting from our Vision, Axis and Strategic Sectors defined to the year 2030”, said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment Carlos Fidel Martin.

Speaking at the annual period of sessions of the Executive Board of the UN Development Program (UNDP), the Deputy Director of the International Economic Entities highlighted the relations between Cuba the UN agency.

He also urged to strengthen international cooperation as a key element to materialize the objectives of Agenda 2030 established in September of 2015 with the eradication of extreme poverty as the center of priorities.

Ending poverty in the world, not leaving anyone behind and reach an inclusive sustainable development for 2030 will only be possible, if we work with international cooperation, based in the principles of solidarity and shared responsibility, he said.

According to Martin, we must urgently apply a policy of mobilization of broad and effective resources, accompanied with South-South cooperation and triangular as a complement and not a substitute of North-South.
