
Havana, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) The University of Havana (UH) today awarded the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa in Higher Education Sciences to Enrique Graue Wiechers, rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
The Aula Magna hosted the ceremony of the highest award given by the UH to national and foreign people with relevant scientific contributions.
During the reading of the corresponding Resolution, the rector of the academic center, Miriam Nicado, expressed that Graue Wiechers achieved the link between the university and society, and in turn, gives priority to science, technology and innovation. She highlighted his work in the field of ophthalmology, higher education, and recognized his academic and scientific results in Latin American countries, the United States and Europe.
Nicado acknowledged the Mexican academic’s willingness to defend Cuba and his permanent position in the exchange between the two universities.
It is a great honor and pride to receive the title granted to me by the University of Havana,” Graue Wiechers said at the ceremony.
He expressed his admiration for the achievements of the Cuban Revolution and highlighted the bonds of brotherhood that the two nations maintain for sovereignty and progress.
He recognized the solidarity maintained by both institutions, and affirmed that they will continue to build close histories in favor of society.
