Cuba Attends Regional Food Industry Fair in Colombia

Bogota, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) A large Cuban business delegation is attending for the first time the Trade Fair for Food, Beverage and Food Technology in Latin America in this capital.

About 27 representatives of 16 Cuban companies and institutions that operate in the agriculture, food and service sectors traveled to Bogota, Jose Luis Saraiba, a commercial advisor at the Cuban Embassy in Colombia, told Prensa Latina.

Saraiba stressed that in the framework of the event, called ALIMENTEC 2018, a contract was signed on biolarvicides and the intention to sign another document to introduce Vidatox in Colombia is making progress.

The homeopathic medicine Vidatox 30 CH was created at the laboratories of Labiofam Cuban Business Group in Cienfuegos province, where venom is extracted from the endemic scorpion (Rhopalurus junceus) and is used to alleviate pains and other symptoms associated to cancer.

Milena Perez, from the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, stated that during the week, some contacts have been established to favor investments in her country to produce chicken and pork meat, as well as other items in the livestock sector.

The head of the Cuban delegation to the fair said that visits to establishments, factories and Colombian markets took place to identify the interests by suppliers in flexible packaging of fruits, juices, milk and others.

Some aspects related to sanitary registration were reviewed to introduce the products of Cuba Ron S.A. (a Corporation that produces the great rum brands in Cuba) in Colombia.

We took advantage of the occasion to strengthen institutional relations with the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota and Procolombia (which is responsible for the promotion of tourism, foreign investment and non-traditional exports in the country), the Cuban official stated.

Some 30 countries have visited the CORFERIAS pavilions in Bogota, where technologies, innovation, packaging, services, trends and equipment for the food and beverage industry are being exhibited.
