HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 27 (acn) Cuba and the United States will play from July 2 to 7 the traditional bilateral friendly baseball match, founded in 1987.
According to several Cuban media outlets, this time the match will be held in South Carolina and will be co-hosted by the American baseball clubs of Charlotte Knights and Durham Bulls.
This annual event began in 1987, but in 1996 it was unilaterally canceled by decision of the government of Washington.
However, it resumed in 2012 and since then, in five matches, the United States has reached three wins and Cuba totals two. In the general balance Americans have won 13 times while the Caribbean squad amounts 12.
Since its reopening, Cuba hosted the event in 2012, 2014 and 2016, while the United States served as headquarters in 2013 and 2015.
The most shocking results occurred in 2013 and 2014. These matches ended up in sweeps, first the Americans won and a year later the Cubans took revenge.
