Cuba and Caribbean Favor Strengthening Political Ties and Cooperation

Georgetown, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and the Caribbean seek to strengthen political and diplomatic ties and cooperation at the 6th Caricom-Cuba Ministerial Meeting being attended on Friday by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

The 6th Ministerial Meeting, which is taking place at the Arthur Chung Convention Center, will contribute to further strengthening relations between the Community of Caribbean States (Caricom) and Cuba.

The event will also analyze matters of common interest like the effects of climate change, tourism and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.

Participants will debate on the importance of being preparing against natural disasters and reaching consensus at world meetings to raise the international community’s awareness on the negative effects of global warming.

Likewise, they will discuss the need to find more effective and immediate mechanisms of cooperation to counter the effects of disastrous weather phenomena.

The Caricom member States and Cuba will ratify their mutual support at international forums to demand a fair and non-discriminatory treatment, and against coercive measures imposed by foreign powers on the Caribbean nations.
