Cuba and Belgium boost business ties

Brussels, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) The vice president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Tania Aguiar, concluded a busy week of meetings with Belgian business leaders and entrepreneur from such sectors as tourism, agriculture and renewable energies.

In statements to Prensa Latina about her visit, the official said that she met with representatives and promotion agencies from several regions, including Brussels-Capital, Wallonia and Flanders, and with the Caribbean Chamber of Commerce in Europe.

It was an important agenda, since we had not had this kind of exchange for some time, which opens a perspective of joint work in prioritized areas for Cuba’s socioeconomic development, said the director, who was accompanied by Cuban Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU) Yaira Jimenez, and other diplomats.

According to Aguiar, the idea is to identify, through video conferences, virtual forums and other modalities, the companies that can advance in concrete projects with several Belgian regions, outlining a road map for joint work.

For Cuba, the priorities are known: the exports of services in health, tourism, renewable energies and agribusiness, she added.
