Clacs for unity and emancipating vision, Cuba stresses

Mexico City, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today described as brilliant and extraordinary the 6th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) in which the region stood out for its unity.

In statements to the press, the Foreign Minister assured that the countries sought ‘an emancipating vision, towards their independence and the exercise of their sovereignty’.

The head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out the ‘energetic’ speech of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, as well as the ‘extraordinary, courageous and solidarity words’ of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Rodriguez highlighted the Summit’s special declaration against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

He also emphasized that the meeting fostered ‘productive deliberations and the agreement of important documents that confirm the projection of the Community as an ambitious, emancipating project against the spirit of domination and the Monroe Doctrine’.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the extraordinary vocation of unity in diversity and the levels of political agreement, ‘although there is always a minority expression, isolated in defense of neoliberalism, in defense of the policies of the Latin American oligarchies, in defense of the discredited Organization of American States (OAS)’.

He also described as brilliant the responses of Diaz-Canel, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the representative of Nicaragua to the attacks on the internal political situation of each of those countries.

Rodriguez reiterated his enormous gratitude to Mexico and praised the country for its brilliant pro tempore presidency of the regional organization.
