Havana, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) Many of the most famous songs from Broadway musicals will be staged today in the Cuban capital, thanks to the Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, one of the special guests of the Havana Theater Festival.
Bringing the Broadway Rox show to the Mella Theater is part of ongoing efforts to promote collaboration between Broadway and this island’s cultural industries, said Robert Nederlander Jr., director of that company.
The Nederlander family has been for more than 30 years a leader and innovator in the performance industry live in the US, and around the world, and now we want to get to Cuba, he said.
Broadway Rox includes songs from prestigious musicals, such as Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, Tommy from The Who, Mamma Mia!, Rock of Ages, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Nederlander Jr. defined the performance as a big concert live celebrating the successes of Broadway’s rock and pop.
The cast includes actors Justin Matthew Sargent, Jason Wooten, Ashley Loren, Carrie Manolakos, Chloe Lowrey, and Dustin Brayley.
The Havana Theater Festival, from October 22 to 31, is dedicated in its 16th edition to the 90 years of acclaimed British author, Peter Brook, and the three decades of Teatro Buendia, flagship company of this island.
