Bolivian Ambassador to Havana Highlights Condemnation to Blockade

Havana, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia’s ambassador in Cuba, Juan Ramon Quintana, said on Friday that the ”overwhelming” condemnation in the United Nations of the U.S. blockade against his country is a triumph of free peoples.

‘We have to celebrate that moral victory, that political victory of the Cuban people that has been imposed by reason and by the right to the power exercised by the force without reason and without right,’ the diplomat told Prensa Latina.

Quintana added that this is an overwhelming triumph, which defends the dignity of the people facing the unilateral decision of Washington, whose consequences he described as genocidal and criminal because it is an economic, commercial and financial siege of transnational scope.

‘The real thing is that it’s not just the blockade,’ the head of the Bolivian delegation told Havana, ‘this is one of the most devastating measures for the economy, health, public finances, scientific development,’ said the Bolivian diplomat.

He described that this practice of more than half a century is part of the U.S. strategy, increasingly visible, to apply policies of punishment against those who do not accept its dictation.

The ambassador urged the people to bring to the United Nations the collective voice to condemn, in addition to the blockade and the policy of warning, the abusive presence of U.S. troops in Guantanamo, as well as what he called ‘terrorist practice in the field of communication, interference to affect the Cuban people’s political will.

Expressing joy at this result, the Bolivian diplomat stressed that it was translated ‘impeccably’ in the closing speech of the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez.
