Blind Cuban Singer Wins International Music Prize

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 28 (acn) Singer Rosalia Fonseca, from Matanzas, won the First Prize at the seventh International Popular Song Festival, sponsored by the Association of Culture and Sports for the Blind, in Guatemala.

Participating in the competition were ten performers from six Central American and Caribbean countries, in which Cuba was the winner with a piece she composed entitled Obra para amar la vida.

Singer Lis Rivero, from Havana, who also won first place, and Addiel Cañizares, from Pinar del Rio, who finished third, participated in the previous two editions of the Festival.
Carlos Ramirez, of the National Association for the Blind, told CAN about the excellent quality of participants and about the satisfaction to win a new laurel in this artistic competition.
