Belgium and Cuba: Scientific projects for agricultural development

Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Boosting projects focused on food security in Cuba has led the scientific community in this eastern province to establish links between the universities of Camagüey and Antwerp, Belgium.

As a result of a visit by professors from the academic institution of Flanders region, a Workshop on Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture is sessioning this week, with the attendance of specialists from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and Ciego de Ávila’s Bioplants Center.

According to Luc Pieters, a Belgian lecturer who presented the exhibition Natural Prodrugs: Bioactivation of Natural Glycosides, ‘exchanging experiences with the Cuban scientific community is an honor given the country’s prestige, in complicated times due to climate change and where our contribution to improve healthy food production is critical.’
