Artists from 12 countries will compete at the Circuba 2022 Festival

Havana, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) With a program of performances featuring artists from 12 countries, the International Circus Festival, Circuba 2022 invites to celebrate its 18th edition, which for the first time moves its stage outside this capital.

Scheduled to take place in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba from September 1 to 4, the event will host groups from Germany, the United States, Colombia, Italy, Japan, Spain, Belarus, Chile, Canada, Mexico, Peru and Ghana, organizers said at a press conference.

According to the director of the event, Rodolfo Palacios, distinguished figures of the international circus scene will also prestige the event, who will serve as jury of the contest as the casting manager of the renowned Cirque du Soleil, Pavel Kotov (Canada); and Ronald Wendorf, director of the State School of Arts of Berlin, Germany.

Although the opening gala will take place next Sunday in the temple of circus on the island, the Havana Tent Trompoloco, the agenda of activities will take the Heredia Theater in Santiago de Cuba as the main venue for the 8 scheduled shows and the gala Un Mundo Nuevo y Feliz (A New and Happy World).

This change of scenery entailed an articulation with several institutions, among them the Ministry of Culture and the National Council of Performing Arts, in order to maintain the quality of the event founded in 1981.

Likewise, the contest will award prizes not only to the best show, but also to outstanding artists in scenic design, photography and art criticism, while the leading institution of circus creation on the island will receive the Coat of Arms of the City of Santiago de Cuba.
