Havana, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The Wine Festival is back this year, as part of celebrations for the 85th anniversary the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, the most emblematic tourist facility of the island.
Scheduled for October 1-3, its sixteentth wine festival is expected to be a strong appeal to entrepreneurs, wineries, merchants and other professionals linked to the wine industry, said Victor G. Rosquete from the hotel business management.
The festival will be an opportunity for professionals, specialists, oenologists, sommeliers and wine lovers to appreciate the latest trends and products of Bacchus.
The Hall 1930 will be, as usual, the main venue for the festival and will hold the product exhibition of participating companies. Lectures and presentations will be held in other areas of the hotel.
Many companies that attended previous events like Freixenet Group, Joan Sarda SA, Duprasa, Inversiones Pucara SA, D&B, AICI (Italo-Cuban Chamber of Commerce), among others, are expected to repeat their visit this time, with Spanish and Italian dominance.
The Hotel Nacional de Cuba is considered one of the hotel facilities with most historic relevance in the country, visited by celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, Winston Churchill, Marlon Brando, Robert Redford, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Buster Keaton, Errol Flynn and Rita Hayworth.
It has the status of National Monument and was inscribed in the Memory of the World Register.
The cannons in its garden, facing the sea and the Malecon, were part of the old battery of Santa Clara, declared a World Heritage Site. On December 30, 1930, the Hotel Nacional was opened and in 1992 it underwent complete restoration.
