Matanzas, Cuba, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and the delegation accompanying her visited Cuba’s major coastal resort, Varadero, in western Matanzas province, on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Tourism delegate in Matanzas, Ivis Fernandez, explained to the visitors the resort’s growth in terms of hotel rooms, with more than 21,000, and the execution of major investments, local TV Yumuri reported.
The Vietnamese vice president noted the growing interest by business people from her country to invest in Cuba, particularly in Matanzas, in tourist infrastructure and services, as well as in telecommunications, the source added.
Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh also learned about the region’s main productions and social development from Mario Sabines, vice president of the People’s Power Provincial Assembly (government).
The top leader expressed her country’s willingness to strengthen and consolidate friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
Ngoc Thinh started an official visit to Cuba on July 8 until today, in response to an invitation by her Cuban counterpart, Salvador Valdes Mesa.
During her stay, she met with the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, and visited the Mariel Special Development Zone in western Cuba.
