“There are hitmen governments in the Americas because they want to destroy – they do not come with a project or with a hope for the people,” Arreaza said.
June 6 (teleSUR) Speaking at a press conference in New York Wednesday, Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Jorge Arreaza said that after the session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, it was clear that “U.S. imperialism does not rule” or have the final say in this regional bloc.
“There are hitmen governments in the Americas because they want to destroy – they do not come with a project or with a hope for the people,” Arreaza told reporters at the headquarters of the OAS in New York after the defeat of the U.S.-sponsored motion to suspend Venezuela from the organization. “We can not continue under the protection of an allegedly multilateral organization that claims to defend international rights but actually violates them all by imperial orders.”
The top diplomat was referring to the pressure maneuvers undertaken by the United States to try to reach support for a resolution to suspend the South American country, which is already in the process of withdrawing from the body.
“There is a script that is clearly established in the OAS, a format and we have the right to withdraw when we have it,” Arreaza said, referring to the departure process that Venezuela initiated from this organization in 2017.
