Venezuelan socialist leader highlights resistance to US sanctions

Caracas, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) First Vice President of the Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Diosdado Cabello on Friday highlighted the capacity for resistance and will to overcome the effects of coercive US measures.

During a meeting with workers from the state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) in Monagas, the socialist leader emphasized the dedication of workers in this sector to put Venezuela’s major industry into operation.

Diosdado Cabello recalled the difficulties PDVSA has recently faced to access some financing sources, as well as the purchase of supplies and spare parts in the international market, due to the economic, commercial and financial US blockade.

The financial persecution actions, dispossession of assets and blockade on Venezuela’s international trade has caused the domestic oil production to drop by 66.5 percent between 2014 and 2019, according to official figures.

During 2015-2019 period, Venezuela stopped producing a total of 1.195 billion barrels of oil, and stopped receiving revenues in the order of 65 billion dollars
