Venezuelan Constituent Assembly reiterates solidarity with Cuba

Caracas, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) The National Constituent Assembly (ANC) of Venezuela on Saturday ratified its sentiments of solidarity with Cuba, by condemning the inclusion of the Caribbean nation in the spurious US list of nations that do not cooperate with the fight against terrorism.

‘We consider the infamous decision (…) is a new attack on the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples,’ the ANC stressed in a statement, warning the international community about ‘the sly intentions behind this type of attack’ that seek to create political conditions for new attacks.

The ANC rejected the US foreign policy, characterized ‘by the permanent violation of Public International Law and especially by the imposition of unilateral coercive measures on other nations of the world that do not surrender to its neocolonial policy of abuses and looting.’

The ANC recalled that Cuba has been suffering for decades from a genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the US, which seeks to stifle the will of the socialist government and make the Cuban people’s morale crumble.

In this regard, the ANC highlighted the key role of Cuba and Venezuela in consolidating the Peace Agreements signed in Havana between the Colombian Government and the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP), in addition to hosting the aborted process of talks with the National Liberation Army (ENL) of Colombia.
