Caracas, May 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has rejected the opposition’s ”cynical” stance regarding the financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against the South American nation.
‘The coup plotters are so cynical that they ask for sanctions against the people and then wash their hands. They know that the country can cover its commitments, that the banks seize Venezuelan money, that blocking bank routes makes transactions impossible,’ wrote the FM in Twitter.
An investigation released by the independent U.S.-based Center for Political and Economic Research revealed that at least 40,000 Venezuelans have died as a result of the economic asphyxiation measures implemented by the White House since 2017, according to estimates.
Voices inside Venezuela this week condemned the death of two children as a result of U.S. sanctions against the South American country, with dire consequences for assistance programs financed by the government.
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez directly charged opposition leader Juan Guaido – recognized by Washington as interim president of Venezuela – with the death of a second child awaiting a bone marrow transplant at an Italian institution.
jguaido handed over CITGO to the United States to satisfy capitalist interests. This burglary resulted in the death of children who benefited from noble health programs. They are low-rent criminals who do not even respect the right to life of children, wrote the Vice President on Twitter.
The intensification of the sanctions against Petroleos de Venezuela and the blockade of the assets of its subsidiary in North American territory have so far hindered the Venezuelan government from maintaining funding for health programs for patients in need of specialized attention abroad.
