Venezuela ratifies cooperation with UN on human rights

Caracas, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela ratified on Friday its commitment to strengthen joint work and constructive exchange of information with the United Nations (UN) in the field of human rights, reported a diplomatic source.

Venezuela’s permanent representative to the UN headquarters in Geneva, Jorge Valero, highlighted the renewal of the Letter of Understanding on cooperation and technical assistance signed between the Venezuelan government and the office of High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet, the Foreign Ministry reviewed in press release.

Speaking at the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the diplomat observed that the politicization of that issue persists in updating the report on the situation of Venezuela.

The oral presentation of the senior official lacked once again the necessary balance, presented obvious methodological flaws and biased information, factors that feed the media campaign against Venezuela, the ambassador assured.

Valero pointed out that the team of the multilateral organization present in the country receives the full support of all the competent entities of the State. ‘This cooperation is pertinent and necessary because it is based on the principles of international law, established in the UN Charter,’ he indicated.

Venezuela suffers a multiform aggression led by the US government, which includes the imposition of unilateral coercive measures, causing significant damage to the enjoyment of the human rights of the people, and resulting in crimes against humanity, the diplomat denounced.
