Caracas, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) Independence is not a matter of yesterday, today and tomorrow, assured the Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino today during the ceremony of flag raising for Venezuela”s Independence Day .
In His Wednesday’s speech in the National Pantheon and Mausoleum of the Liberator, he stressed that ‘independence should not remain only a fact of national history, 206 years ago, but must be a living feeling in the conscience of the people.’
‘Today we ratify that we are not submissive, that we are not servile, that we are not submissive,’ emphasized the top official, who also remembered the memory of the commander Hugo Chavez, ‘to whom the people entrusted to him the task of giving continuity to the process of independence of the Homeland with the Bolivarian Revolution. ‘
He also stressed the civic-military union between the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the Venezuelan people, unlike those who aspire that the country be ‘a homeland given to the vilest interests of imperialism.’
Padrino also condemned the action of the Venezuelan opposition ultra right-wing, ‘which is committed to foreign intervention and promotes interference in alliance with the Organization of American States (OAS) and the performance of its Secretary General, Luis Almagro.’
‘We do not yet understand,’ he added, ‘how factions of national political life still invoke colonialism, they resort to imperialism. Or is it that perhaps that decision of July 5, 1811 was only recorded in a minute? ‘
The Defense Minister called on the radical opposition sectors for reflection, and pointed out that the current challenge is to guarantee the right of the people to be free and sovereign, which represents ‘the treasure left to us by our liberators.’
Néstor Reverol, Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, and the operational strategic commander, Remigio Ceballos, attended the event, along with the top military command and several ministers of the Bolivarian government.
