Venezuela Denounces Subordination of OAS to US Interests

Caracas, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza denounced on Wednesday the subordination of the Organization of American States (OAS) to US interests after accepting Gustavo Tarre as ”designated” by the nation.

Arreaza, in a message posted on Twitter, rejected the resolution on Venezuela approved in an extraordinary session on Tuesday, to position Tarre as representative of the National Assembly, Parliament in contempt, within the organization.

‘It is no surprise that Washington is killing international law and destroying tailor-made institutions like the OAS. The enslaving submission of several governments in the region is remarkable. It is obvious that some give in under extortion, others do it by willing subordination’, wrote the diplomat.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, in an official statement, called the approval of the measure a ‘blatant and criminal violation of international law’.

‘This is one of the unhappy decisions made in the long history of legal and political outrages of this Organization, and a vulgar use of blackmail and pressure against member states to satisfy the wishes of American (…) politics,’ Arreaza stressed.

The OAS position validates the coup d’etat plan launched on January 23, and aims to create conditions to deepen the meddling aggression against our country, including the threat of military intervention, it emphasized.

Venezuela will not recognize any political envoy who has not been appointed in accordance with constitutional provisions, by the highest representative of the National Executive Branch and Head of State, Nicolas Maduro, the document concluded.
